Hey there, I just worked on the same alligator clips but found that when removing them they scratch the paint a bit since they have that crater in it. I'm assuming it scratched when you also took them off?

By design, there really isn’t a way to prevent them from scratching the surface they’re attached to - not unless you have a way of grasping both ends simultaneously and pulling both away from the metal surface rather quickly….

There’s no worries if they have scratched the surface under the door card.
