I sold a turbo Miata to get my 18 GT and yes, the car feels slower than my Miata. Going from boosted torque to normally aspirated torque is kind of a letdown but it is still a lot of fun to wind it out. I may eventually try a premium tune or flex tune to wake the car up some below 4K rpm’s.

1. Throttle response is a little muted to achieve EPA MPG ratings. Putting the car in Sport or Track mode fixes most of that.
2. Low end torque is purposely dialed back a little in stock form so you're not spinning your tires. Most tunes will give you a 40+ lb bump in the low end torque range (not +40 lbs max torque).

Moral to the story, get a tune and it will awaken the car.

People are still are buying these cars and then complaining it doesn't make 700 pounds of torque at 1000 rpm :giggle:

And then people are scared to rev past 3k on a daily driver :frown:

Go past 7k and the OPG gears break instantly :crying:

Welcome to M6G

Pretty sure mine is making over 460HP stock. This was on P Zero tires, and 100% stock.

Yep I came from a MKS with a 93 tune and that thing is wicked fast off idle. Now in 2019 I buy this 727 roush charged mustang gt and no lag to be found but I have rules about going full throttle. Is the road level? Has as it been dry for a day? are you in 3 gear or above? Now you can go full throttle. :like:

That is damned fast good job! I assume the 3.55's help coming out of the hole too?
I am 340#, which doesn't help. Car was in Drag mode. I have the mid level 301A.

I only drive in sport mode. Let's see if we find some who only drives in track/drag!
I drive in track all the time. Only time I'm not in track is if its raining out.

The car is fast.....

The best way to describe it is digital. Everything works well and honestly on the street from a dig my PP1 10 speed hooks and goes.....very little drama

I have a LSA G8 that makes over 640 to the wheels and runs low 11's at 123+ in full street trim (On a DR) and the car is a flat out handful and scary on street tires below about 70 mph. The Mustang would kill the G8 stop light to stop light on street tires when left in Sport + with T/C on. G8 would kill it from a freeway roll.

We are truly living in a great era for cars...HP has been there but now with advanced levels of traction control and automatics that are lightning fast and tires with crazy grip what used to be impossible is now the norm. The fact that this car will go high 11's at 118+ stock is insane compared to 10 years ago......I spent a whole bunch of money/time in the early 2000's modifying(ruining) my 2000 Camaro SS manual to run the same times as these cars do off the showroom floor.

It’s not. You just got a hold of some negative DA on that run.
According to Hot Rod, they got 493HP on an all stock 18 5.0. Stock airbox, manifolds, cats, and tune. DA was +900 when I checked.

And on 91 Octane!

Does this mean the engines maybe detuned in our cars (as this was a crate engine)?

The crate engine is a the same as a Mustang GT engine. Not Detuned, just under rated.

That's for wimps. Mine is programmed to engage line-lock at every stop.

But are we really seeing the equivalent to 493 hp on 91 as standard?
