previous owner of a Kona Blue '10. First day at work with it...was a cloudy icky day...coworker nicknames the car 'Barney' due to the level of purple. Kona Blue likes bright sunlight...has lots of metallic, however it does not like overcast and magnetically attracts pollen in spring time.
IMHO, the DIB has less of a purple look but lacks the 'pop' in the sun.

Thanks for posting those pictures. Makes me wanna go out to the garage, pull the cover off mine and spend a couple hours tinkering with it.
Why is it in the garage with a cover on it ?

The sun plays a big part in how kona blue looks. On an overcast day, it looks navy blue or a little purple. But when the sun is out, it's very bright. See the last picture I posted.

Because of all the dark flakes in kona, I think it gives more contrast than DIB. Look at the picture I posted of the 2 cars from the rear view. The shadow areas are more black on the kona car than on the DIB car. And if you look back at the last picture I posted, the light areas are bright blue but the dark areas look almost black. That's the allure of the kona blue for me over DIB.

both are nice, finding a blue car was a hassle
the dealers are stacked up w silver, white and black
so I had to have my shipped from another dealer 500 miles
out . Ill never do that again,it arrived in desperate need of
a cut and polish which the dealer paid for .
Holy smokes, I had the same thing (though not a DIB car). In fact, I was supposed to get a quote for them to cover some additional detailing, and I haven't yet (just been so busy the last month).

Dealer had a Kona blue 50th when I was looking for mine. I liked it on the previous gen but wasnt a big fan on the S550. Made the car look bland and was too dark for me to want to keep clean. That said the car was in the showroom so I didn't see it in the sun.

Kona > DIB all day. I've always loved Kona's darker features and purple hue.

I like all of the blues, if they offered Grabber Blue this year I would have ordered it..gonna miss my '12 GT/CS....for a little while anyway....
This all day. I loved GB on my 2011 and wish they offered it on the S550. Would have went that way in a heartbeat.

S550s would look killer in Grabber Blue!

I had a Kona V6. Loved the color, its a chameleon color. It turns purple in direct sunlight and midnight blue in the shade and at night. Mine had white rocker stripes that really complemented the color.

I got the opportunity to park next to a DIB today. Here are a few pictures of the subtle differences in the colors.

Man, that Kona is rich and gorgeous. No doubt why Ford chose it for the LE.

I prefer the DIB all day. I've seen both in person several times. RobbieFrazier has a beautiful one that makes me thing that would be the only other color I'd own personally.
