The '15 mustang is really exciting. I am flirting with buying a high incentive closeout 2014.
I kind of like the solid axle. My greatest interest in the '15 is the Turbo 4cyl. Don't know what to do? However, that is a fun problem. I think Mustang sales will move back to dominate the muscle car segment.

End of the year and sales figures since 1964
Awesome charts. I knew the Mustang has usually outsold the Camaro but didn't know how consistently it has until very recently. Just eyeballing the 1964-present year end sales chart it looks the Mustang has outsold the Camaro over the last 50 years in all but:

1977
1978
1983
1984
1985
1986
2010
2011
2012
2013

So by my count it's somewhere around 40-10 in favor of the Mustang. And yes the years the Camaro was gone count.

I expect the 2015 to sell like wild, maybe not reaching the numbers of the 2005 but still will outsell Camaro comfortably

Don't you want to be one of the first people on the streets in a shiny new 2015? The 2014 is nice but people are used to it. I expect when the 2015 starts hitting the road it will be all the buzz. I wish I was in position to buy one.

Truthfully, No. I prefer to buy in model year two or three. Inventories are higher. You make a better buy. There are new things added and the early service bulletins are corrected. Example, I wanted an S197 bad but waited to Oct 2006. Tire pressure monitor, Satelite radio, 3.55:1 rear gear were added in the '07 year. The quality was JD power #1. There were eighty stangs on the lot. I closed for $2k under sticker. In Missouri you pay a hefty property tax on what you own on Jan 1. Timing counts!

My 13 still is a head turner, It's dropped, has fat wheels/tires, sounds great too. Mustangs will always cause attention quite frankly. The 2015 will be old looking by your defintion in a few years anyways once the refreshes start to roll out.

Lol! Saw where someone over on C5 suggested perhaps the last three months trend was due to fleet sales. I think that was what Fbodfather blamed the deficit on back in October, but that trend continued for two more months!
Poor guy. Looks like the mods over there deleted his post after he quoted fbodfather's "fleet" comment back in October.

And now it looks like he's posted up again:

So why did the mods see the need to delete my posts in this thread. I called nobody names, did not bash the Camaro nor advocate for the Mustang. I just made a jstatement about Fbodfather saying:

"Fleet" ---

(...as in Rental....)
Back in October as the reason the Mustang beat the Camaro in sales and now, after two more months showing the same trend, wondered what his explanation is.

Scott is a big boy and I'm sure if he wanted to respond to anything I said, he would be capable of doing so. You don't need to insulate him from comments like mine.
Poor guy, if he keeps this up he's sure to get banned like many others have despite the fact that he has a ZL1 listed in addition to a GT500 in his profile. That site is so sad.

A few more months of S197 sales to go fella's... The S197 has a ways to go. With its current numbers, I believe Ford could actually get the remaining cars rolling this Spring. I'm hoping there is a 90 day stock left at least... when your sold out, your sold out.

The 5th Gens small increases last month were due to remaining '12-'13s.

Down 14% in December and 5000 total is bad... Like 2009 Mustang bad...

...and a $75,000 track day joke isn't going to help... The 5th Gen will end up costing Chevrolet a ton of money. It absolutely has to be in the red.

Constant R&D since 2004 and never any real profit. It's best year was less sales then the 2008 Mustang. Expect the 6th Gen's budget to reflect the overall sales success of the 5th Gen.

2006 Concept
Bumblebee
2010 Camaro
2011 Convertible
2012 ZL1
2013 ZL1 Convertible and 1LE
Two separate Z28 projects scrapped
the 2014 Refresh
2014 z28

They have been spending rampant but not managing a return.

Not good, not good business at all...

Consider all the AFM members that grabbed a '14 after the '15 reveal

5-10 vocal members are a drop in the bucket. None of us forum guys have any real impact on these charts. I bet more than half those sales are from people who didn't even know the S550 was about to be revealed.

This. Too many enthusiasts think the majority of the population thinks like they do about cars. It's just like the progressives in politics; a small minority making it sound like the majority agrees with their positions.

Maybe GM is hoping for another bailout.

I think it probably has a lot to do with the timing. With GM going under right about the time of the 5th gen Camaro's launch, they missed an opportunity to strike while there was high demand. I remember going to my local dealer in 08 to try and get any news about orders being processed. I ended up buying something else at the time, doubting the car would even be produced. By the time they finally got the car into production, 2 years had passed since Transformers came out and 3.5 since the concept was unveiled. Then, Ford released a refreshed Mustang with comparable power, and GM had missed any chance at a strong return on their investment.
