The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive are great roads with beautiful scenery, but there are too many tourists a lot of the time, who mostly drive 35mph or so. The dragon is an experience, everyone should do it a few times, but it's crowded in good weather.

There's also Wolf Pen Gap/Suches here in the GA mtns. More technical than the dragon, with more elevation changes and much less crowded. It is beginning to be discovered now, but still not as well known as the Dragon.

I spend a lot of time riding in this area and love it. I stop at the gas station in Suches. It's a hoot. I stop in Blairsville frequently at Smokin' Jims BBQ. Rated #7 in the US. If I had looked around this area b/4 moving to TN I might have moved there.
Brasstown Bald is a must see.

I used to ride my motorcycle through there a lot, great roads, and pretty country. Have only taken the mustang through there once. My toughest run was in my 96 Bronco on the way back from trout fishing, not exactly the best vehicle for those roads!

311 to Paint Bank is nice and close us. Let me know if you want to try that one day.
+1 on route 311. Personally done that road. Rt 20 in WV was also a wonderful road. Lots of sweepers that you could roll through quickly.

I'll add the following web site in as a resource too.
