There were two different versions HW did (I forget exact names). I have a yellow one that's as you describe, but before that I originally found a red coupe that has that full level of detail at Walmart.
I'll have to check it out, or maybe buy one of those Maisto 1:18 scale Mustangs, they look pretty sweet.

Nice. I've got the Coupe.

Gonna paint it black someday. Already drilled it out and got it apart.
It snaps back together still

LOL, I don't know how old you are, but I seem to recall Hot Wheels being $1....
or maybe those were Matchbox cars....

What I'd REALLY like, of course, is a yellow convertible.
Lol, yeah never said Amazon had it for a good price. They were around $1-2 I think back in the mid 90's when I started getting into them.

IIRC, hotwheels have been a dollar since the late 60s...

I found the Maisto 1:18 '15 GTPP in Yellow at Costco. Ordered a spray can of Guard Metallic and going to test my masking & painting skills...... :headbonk:
Definitely take pictures! I may need to do something similar to get a black one.

I have seen the Maisto 1:18 in Yellow & White. I actually contacted them directly regarding availability of other, factory colors and got a fairly unfriendly response....

The model at Costco was reasonable....I think it was $13.99 but the factory paint in a spray can was +/- $30 w/shipping. Plus I'll need to buy a can of clear-coat at the parts store so I'm going to have about $50 in it plus labor.......hopefully it turns out well. I have not received the paint yet but will post pics when it's done.
