VMP offers a 1.7 TVS M90 direct replacement that would work for this too.

http://www.vmpperformance.com/VMP-1-9L-TVS-upgrade-kit-for-05-10-Roush-Stage-3-p/vmp-19tvs.htm

I spread the word to my old GM 3800 V6 friends this blower would kick ass on a 3800 with a cam and feed it some E85

For the price of the blower alone a guy could buy 4 3800s LOL

wreck rebuild repeat.
The ultimate goal would be to have a retail version of what I build with a TVS blower and that might just be the perfect part!

Again the M90 should be more then adequate at proving the concept and delivering decent power at 6.5 psi. I hope to achieve this with a design that fits under the stock hood.

I should hopefully receive the first piece to the puzzle tomorrow... It is a plastic lower intake from a transverse mounted 3.7. The idea again is to relocate the water outlet in order to remove the thermostat housing on the front of the engine to allow for belt routing. Being plastic has advantages and disadvantages... The big advantage would be that it will act as an insulator between the cylinder heads and the supercharger casing which should help decrease charge air temps without the need for an intercooler. The disadvantage of course is that the pressed inserts will not be strong enough to secure the supercharger assembly. With that said, I should be able to find longer bolts and have the supercharger mounting plate bolt directly to the cylinder heads basically sandwiching the lower intake between the two.

First piece of the puzzle has arrived! I think this will work just fine for a proof of concept. Having said that, there seems to be quite a bit of room that can later be used for an intercooler when I make my own lower intake.

Just sent off a request to sprintex asking for technical details on their SP5 series supercharger. From what I can find online their twin screw is comparable to the m90 but in about a.5-.75" shorter package which would be great for hood clearance.

I really like the sprintex package for the challenger. truth be told if they offered a manual option for the v6 I would have gotten a challenger and sprung for this, but alas, no manual and the pull to buy another mustang was just too great, lol. I hope this project turns out well.

Well Sprintex responded! Their S5-335 would be absolutely perfect for a project like this. Capable of 500hp and in a smaller/thinner package then the M90. The downside is that it's looking to be about $3.5k total in order to get a unit.... So for now in order to prove the concept I will be sticking with a Gen V M90.

As a side note, maybe I can get Sprintex interested in building a kit for the Mustang after I prove my design...:ninja: Maybe I can get them to sponsor a 335 once my system with the M90 is up and running! We shall see....

This is awesome will be following this build. Mine is procharged but i have heard that if you try to get more boost out of it the belt starts to slip off. it would be nice to be able to achieve 700 hp on it but from what i have heard thats only possible through turbos.

Supercharging really is not good for high peak power like 700 hp.... You would most certainly be better served by a turbo setup! Or..... Twincharging with a turbo and supercharger! :ninja: You would also need a built engine as 450whp seems to be the highest reliable power output for the 3.7 in stock form.

The goal for the twin screw/roots setup for me is more usable power through the RPM band. I would consider the project a success if I got around 320whp or about 375-400 flywheel hp. The benefit to me is flattening out that torque curve so that the 3.7 no longer feels dead below 3k. :p

yes i wish mine wouldnt feel sluggish under 3.000rpm.It will be ibteresting to the results.

I emailed sprintex a while back asking if they had any interest in making a cyclone kit, this was the response I got:

" We had this in mind some time ago but it keeps on being placed on hold due to other more pressing projects. As it is not possible to cover every platform even though of course we would love too. However, this is a platform we would like to do at some stage. So keep asking and you may just get what you are looking for.

That’s more or less the same response I received. They are looking to refresh their lineup for next year and it’s possible a kit could be introduced.

Ok so updates....

The plan is to still move forward with a non IC setup first but I am planning on only running a max of 5 psi. Just enough to see some benefit (I hope) but not enough to cause a heat issue. I have the lower intake and plan on porting it while it is off the car and then installing it. With this install I will be able to re route the coolant lines and remove the thermostat housing. This along with UPR motor mounts sets up the engine bay for the supercharger system.

An IC system is in the works and I hope to have it designed and machined by next spring (when temperatures start to go back up).

As far as tuners go, I have either MPT remote tuning or a company called Revolution Auto here in Maryland. I am hoping rev auto will be able to dyno tune a V6 (they seem to have done procharger installs in the past). We shall see how this works out though.

So what’s everyone’s opinion? Stock 19lbs injectors with 5psi boost? Calculations/estimates say no but I’m curious if anyone has something to add?
