Thinking of getting LT headers. I was thinking of having them coated. Has anyone had their headers coated?

Personal opinion of mine, and other dealers i have dealt with. If you get Kooks, or ARH you don't really need it because they are constructed so well.

^^^ I have had headers and pistons coated in the past. I wish that I would have coated my current headers. My last headers that I had coated and also wrapped; you could put your hand on them after driving the car really hard. It significately cut down on the engine bay temps.

Yea i know, i just couldn't justify that extra cost. Ill never consistently track it, or run it so hard that temps will stay elevated for long periods.

Coating is for more then just protection.

 Its like 200 buck. It can cut down under the hood temps if you get it coated at the right place. You dont have to drive your car all out to benefit. If you're content, good on you i guess.

As i stated, i am very content with my decision to not coat, absolutely no regret at all.

I've got JBA LT's with ceramic coatings on my '66. Wouldn't have headers without coatings after experiencing these.

That is pretty amazing as far as heat reduction, that you could grab them. Enough to sell me on coating if I ever did headers.

Nitroplate in Nashville, TN used to offer smoking deals on coating for us on the Factory Five forums. Check em out and see what they can do.

Nevermind: Just checked their website and theyve been bought out and are only doing large volume customers now instead of individuals.
