As the title says what are some cars you regret not buying. I personally have a few

1. 2013-2014 GT500, it’s just such a badass car, from styling to power and the last solid rear axle mustang plus I would argue it’s what started the modern horsepower wars with hellcats and Zl1’s. Unfortunately I didn’t get one when they were cheaper if I’m not mistaken I think they even dipped down to high 30’s now they are in the

2. Vipers. Again badass car and I remember a time when they weren’t selling and you could get a decent discount on them. Now that production stopped they’re crazy expensive and unaffordable.

3. GT350, I don’t regret this one so much as honestly the engine scares me in terms of repairability down the road. But I remember a decent example could be had for 40-45k used now they’re like 10-15k more than that.

One is the MkIV Supra. The really desirable examples - manual, TT, LHD - were not too expensive in the mid 2010s. Now the prices are just insane and they may never get better.

I’d also say a clean 2008+ C6 Z06. The prices on these will hopefully get better soon, but I remember seeing them for like $30k a few years back.

1968 Camaro RS convertible, yellow with black interior. It was $1000 and I only had $700 at 16 years old in 1976. I should have borrowed the money.

Only one that really comes to mind is a 2nd gen Z/28. I've always liked those years and for a long time nobody would touch them. Now the prices are going up every day it seems.

I regret not buying a 70 AMX 390ci, 4 speed in British racing green in 72 from a used car dealer. and back in 76 I had the chance to buy a 64 Pontiac Bonneville 421 ci tri power 13.1 compression with vacuum outer carbs and transistorized ignition from the factory for 400 bucks that just needed a paint job but could not come up with the cash.

Yeah, the 5th gen z/28 is quite the performance bargain and that version of the LS7 fixed most of the issues. Only negative is no A/C, but who cares? I don't know if I'd trade my Mustang for one, but I'd certainly love to have one as a track day car or something.

the z06 is definitely another one for me as well. I really considered them when they were low 30’s but timing for me wasn’t right

They're great cars but the engine issues make them more expensive than they really should be. Unless you buy one that's already fixed.

I’m 58, if I told u the cars I could've
bought your head would spin

However I actually owned:
72 LS5 Chevelle SS
70 L34 Nova SS
71 Camaro Z/28
87 GN
96 C4 Convertible
97 Firehawk
99 Firehawk
2000 WS6
2004 GTO
2006 GTO
2010 Camaro SS
2019 Mustang GT
2019 Mustang GT Convertible

I also had many DD too.

However I passed on AAR Cuda’s 440 6-Pack Cuda’s, 442’s, SD Trans Ams, L34-L78 Novas and Chevelles, LS6 Chevelles, L34-L78 Camaro SS, AMC AMX’s & Rebels Machines and the list goes on. I could’ve bought some of them for under $5,000 or as much as $25,000 and thats bargain when u consider what they sell for now

Oh well, I had my shot, I still owned some cool stuff over the years 😎

My Pro Street BB Nova after just getting painted at 309 Drive-In & my Chevelle SS at Atco Raceway 1988

Heard about that but wasn’t sure how widespread the issue was but also some of these cars with the rarer engines like the ls7 can turn into money pits if engine replacement is needed, which is why the GT350 scares me down the road since it’s not like a 5.0 where you can go to any junkyard and get one.

lots of amazing cars on that list. Unfortunately I don’t think my list will get that long with the current inflation and a lot of cars getting discontinued and renamed as electrics it’s eliminating new cars that could be future legends.

Maybe someone can explain to me what has happened with these prices though. I’m not understanding the economy too much. I think we were in better shape economically back in 2018 when most of the prices on these modern cars were down. I don’t see what’s caused such an increase across the board, is there really that much demand for these cars.

Two big things. Inflation, and the perceived EV apocalypse. The millennials have also finally started to get some money, so cars they lusted after while growing up became attainable finally.
