Thanks it was the right idea it cleaned up the noise, the induction noise was not as pleasing as the 3.7 or 5.0 it was also far louder due to the turbo itself, it overshadows my exhaust and everything else in the cabin under acceleration. It is cleaner sounding now.

It is also nice to be able to get at the filter again, down in the fender while may be good for temps, the CAI pipe is still heated up in the engine bay so I am not sure the gains are worth the inconvenience.

My car still has the filter ford put in it when they built the car. Makes plenty of power even with a stock filter

As it should, aftermarket filters are only good for a few HP. At your power level about 10-15hp.

Hum, 10-15 more puts me close to 500whp. Guess I'll put one in when my stocker is changed

You share the same airbox and filter as the 5.0 and the stock air filter itself has far more pleats and they are a ton deeper than the drop in filters. Google SVT performance K&N drop in dyno test. They lost 5-6 whp with a K&N drop in on a climate controlled dyno test.

So with the EFR xxxx turbo with built-in bypass valve, I take it is mechanical and not using factory by-pass or its electronic signal for anything ?
