Hi, I’ve just bought a 2019 Mustang GT in the UK (5.0 S550 Fastback). Initially I chose to stick with the standard seats, but then my wife caved & said I could get the Recaros but it was too late! Not a problem, I decided I could always get some aftermarket Recaros and fit them. However after speaking to a couple of Recaro dealers they’ve said there’s no compatible fitting kits. Below are the 2 replies I had.

Has anyone managed to get aftermarket seats to fit the new UK facelift model or even the 2015-17?

Sadly there are no fitting kits available from RECARO for the latest Ford Mustang model, so we would not be able to provide a direct installation for the vehicle. We can supply some universal slide rails and/or spacers to assist in assembling a baseframe, but you would ultimately need to source your own solution. This can be achieved either by modifying the existing seat frame in the car, or having a whole new frame fabricated, possibly by a Ford specialist.

you would need a baseframe or adapter kit, unfortunately Recaro don't do one for that vehicle.

just need a welder some method of cutting some plate metal and someone with a clue to disconnect the standard forward backward runners and weld on the generic plates to the base forward/backward runners note the generic plates may need trimming to make them fit
This guy does something similar with a gtr seats welds generic sparco mounting plates to the factory rails so that he can have slidey back and forward. (think this is the right video not 100%)

it sounds like a daunting job but its surprisingly simple for anyone with some basic handy skills.

You've probably thought of this already...but if you haven't been in a Mustang with Recaros, they're a pain in the butt when you want to access the rear (based on a test drive) - get the tilt and slide in the wrong order and it just doesn't work. I'm sure you'll be fine with it, but your missus might not be as understanding :)

Sorry to be a boring old f*rt, but if they aren’t a straight swap option I would be worried about crash protection etc... especially on such a new car. You may also want to speak to your insurers.
As I said, boring, BUT I would be concerned about the “adaption”.

You have got to be able to get a set from Ford parts, but obviously it’s not going to be cheap, by the way the Recaros are absolutely beautiful seats and so comfortable :like:

Just a thought but why not speak to your dealer, as odds are he will have a car there with Recaros and might be willing to swap them over for the right price

There was a thread on the Simply Mustangs Facebook feed last week of a guy who had done exactly this (retro fitted Recaros in to existing seat base) and it looked immense. So good I’m even looking into it.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll check out the Facebook feed and I'll have a chat with the Ford service team see if they can adapt for me. There is a new Mustang there that has the Recaros and I sat in them before I placed my order, the only reason I didn't take them was my missus is a short-ar5e and it hurt her back. When she then came to her senses a month later the Ford Sales guy said the car was 'committed' in the system (Computer says no), and the only thing they could do was cancel the car and re-enter it, but it would go to the back of the pile. They said that would push my car back from June delivery to September, and I'm way too impatient to wait til then, plus with all this Brexit crap and potential no-deal import tax changes it could increase the price of the car, so want to get it as soon as they can get it into the country and keep my fingers crossed the British Government continue to be grossly incompetent. I'll ask the Sales guy if I can swap my OEM seats for the other car's Recaros, but I can't see them going for it - but definitely worth a try! Cheers guys.

Hey Guys, We have x2 pairs of the Ford Performance Recaro Seats in stock they were ordered into stock for a particular Mustang customizing company. But there hasn't been any movement in the last few months or so are available to anyone interested.

Price we can offer on a pair of these = £3260.00 Inc VAT & Delivery.

The usual procedure with these seats is that they can be stripped off their frames and transferred over to the original electrical base frames fitting the Recaro seats & backs. The covers can also be removed from the original seats and Recaro's to transfer over the heated and cooling elements. As the covers are also perforated.
