I can't get my car to hook at 71 degrees and 1700 DA. In the summer I managed a 5.50 with some wheel spin in 3rd. Tonight I went to my usual testing spot and can't hook in 3rd at all. I think I'm going to order Mickey Thompson street R's. I'm now running Nitto R2s 305/45/17s. Install a BMR cradle lock out kit I've had for a while. What set up do you guys have/Use for your runs? I have seen others with much cooler temps running very fast 60-130 (sub 5.0s). How are they hooking?

I use the Hoosier DBR 28x10.5x17 and have zero issues so far. However, I am a manual car and a Centri.

@Cory S May be able to make a recommendation. He's a 6R80 car, and is very fast.

5.5's is very respectable. It's downright fast. Those 305/45/17's should hook up when warmed up no problem. What pressure are they at when you are making your runs?

@Cory S what 60-130 do you run?
As you know, the variables are immense. If I go by my PB, It was a 4.82, but it was invalid because of a 2% down slope. DA was 1200'

In 600-1000DA, It's usually between 5.02-5.20 (Valid)

Heres some of my runs with ET street R's. After you spin them a few times they get bad on the street and dont work well. Was hazing to like 120 mph on some of these runs

My best runs were actually on all season continental dws 06+ (end part of this video)

Nice runs. What kind of DA are the runs? Are you rolling into the runs or getting in the low 50s and going WOT. Why do the think the continental dws 06 hook better? Very inetresting finding.

The et street R ball up rubber like this on the street

The dws06+ have a ton of tread blocks and deep tread, I guess they just kind give the tread a bit of flex which helps them not spin somehow, along with them being designed to withstand lower temperatures. Im on general gmax right now, havent tried them in the winter yet though. The DA was probably negative in these runs atleast -500 probably maybe -1000 max. Going WOT at as low of a speed as I can hook at in 3rd in these conditions, probably ideally around 40

Mickeys not looking to good. I'm rethinking the Street R now.. I don't think - DA is possible @800 feet above sea level. In the winter its so cold, no way any tire can hook. Last night went WOT at 50, can went sideways, almost lost it. Not fun. I may try dropping to 18-20psi, doing a few quick hits, going WOT in the high 50smph.
