2016 Mustang GT Base PP NOVI 2200
I have a 16 GT PP. The 2014 throttle body has the same part# as the 16. Is it safe to put the 14 on a 16? I’ve been troubleshooting an idle issue and my next step is to replace the TB. Any help is appreciated.

The pigtail is slightly notched different for the 2011-2014 compared to the 2015-2017, should be able to adjust with a tune. What idle problems are you having? Is it ported or an aftermarket one that's bigger then stock? Do you have a tune required intake? Do you have a tune then added a different tb later? Why did you add the 2014 through?

I’m boosted with an oil fed Novi 2200. Stock TB. Idle jumps up towards 3000 rpms during initial start. It doesn’t happen every time. I’m running a BAP, ID1000’s, 10 rib 3.6 pulley, and a race BOV. My Tuner swears it’s not in the tune. I had some carbon buildup on my TB the last time you pulled it off. I cleaned it the best I could. So I decided to systematically replace associated parts starting with the least expensive. I got yut 14 TB from a buddy. Fordparts.com shows them as the same part# for the 14 and 16. I’ve tried the idle relearn Didn’t work. Thought about a crank relearn but the symptoms don’t relate to the typical crank relearn issues. (Clutch/flywheel replacement).

The TB itself might be the same, but check the electronics and see if they are the same also.

Have you ever datalogged to see what the car when it's doing it. Is it doing it when the car is cold on first start up when it's warming up the cats or did you have that removed in your tune or lowered. Do you still have your stock PCV valves or are you using breathers I assume you already check for Boost leaks, and have you cleaned your mass airflow sensor. Before I was having problems with a high idle on initial start up even though I had it tuned out or lowered cuz I have his race cats plus I was having issues with extra oil consumption, after looking around in reading some forums I switched over to an EcoBoost PCV valve from an F-150 which saw the few of my issues. An idle relearn wouldn't be in a bad idea but you shouldn't need a crank relearn especially if you're not throwing any codes.

Just swapped to the 14 TB. Cranked and idled but died as soon as I touched the gas. I guess that answers the question. Already ordered another 16. $121 from fordparts.com.

I have a 2016 sitting in my garage with less than 500 miles on it would have sold ya.
