I am about to order a new thermostat for my car as I am getting my Flexfuel dyno tune on July 6th.

Not sure which one is the best for a NA application.

Any experts care to chime in? 160? 170? I live in the hot south, too:thumbsup:

The 160s never seem to work as well as the 170s. I have a 170 with a tune and it never gets over 189/190.

I ordered at 170° REISCHE thermostat because it's the only one that works as designed. The 160's actually run hotter, do a quick search on here.

I'm very happy with the 170.

I got a Reische 170 stat from Lethal last week, and my head temps when cruising stay in the 180's. Before they would average around 208. Well worth it.

170* all the way. Built exactly like the OEM unit except with a lower opening temp. Most 160's you see out there are not direct replacement and most of the bypasses don't open properly to work with the factory housing and passages. We have the Reische Performance 170's in stock with free shipping as well!

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks
Derek - Thanks! Just what I wanted to hear. I will be placing my order in a few minutes:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

WOW. That is a huge difference in temperature variation. Thanks for letting me know.

How is the install? Are you just draining some coolant out of the radiator? If so, how much? After that, it is easy to install? 30-60 minutes of install time?

  1. I have a mityvac and used that to pump the reservoir empty all the way down to the lowest part of the hose that comes off of the reservoir.
  2. I got about half a gallon out of all of that.
  3. Then I just took the t-stat assembly apart and lost about another half gallon.
  4. Installed new t-stat, filled up the reservoir and started squeezing the radiator hoses to pump fluid back and forth.
  5. Added more water to the reservoir..
  6. Started the engine with the heat on max.
  7. Watched the temps and kept my eye on the reservoir.
  8. After about 20 minutes I added more water, and that was that.

Just to add.. The Reische 170 from Lethal was one of the first mods I did to my 15. Never seen it get over 180., These motors run best in this range too.
