As we know the stock muffler does a spectacular job at making it quiet but how does it do this and would swapping it for something else help from a performance standpoint? Well we now will find out... FOR SCIENCE!!
Down and dirty I hacked this bad boy apart. Overall view.. inlet is on the left.. outlet on the right.
The inlet is decent and has the same diameter as the leading pipe with fiberglass packing at the end behind the typical perforated steel.
Then this happens... The exhaust has only one path to exit the muffler and that is through this perforated steel mesh.
Then into the very small 1 3/4" or so diameter pipe which loops around and out to the tailpipe.
Note there is also more fiberglass packing at the exhaust end as well..
So there it is. The stock exhaust deconstructed. Stay tuned for part 2... the Resonator!
*** Muffler dimensions.. ****
14.5" length
12.25" wide
6.25" height
