How long has this truck been around? I swear I either saw this truck or something similar floating around the net a long time ago... 55/60 psi. Awesome. I think I can speak for all the traditional forced induction V8 guys by saying the high powered 4 cyl stuff is exciting to learn about.

Agreed. When are we going to see an equipped car at the dragstrip?
  3. Announcing the VTT EBM Stage 1 Turbo Upgrade

Nah, I think we agree...I missed the 'visual inspection' part. I was assuming taking the turdbo off.

Who's the 'they' you're referring to? A Ford tech will know, if that's what you're asking.

Stop deflecting. I never said any such thing because I know better. Pay closer attention, friend. Still waiting on your reasoning.

Riiiiight. What you seem to be missing, that I've repeated a number of times is that leaving material in those holes does nothing to add strength. Otherwise they would be solid, as you're proposing. Try again.

Huh? I'm quite familiar w/ the influence of holes in structure. Plenty of FAA documents have my signature on them regarding this very issue. There is no argument. I'm trying to teach you. This doesn't sound 'calm' nor 'education' to me?

Why on earth would you 'randomly' drill holes to reduce weight? That makes NO sense at all. Btw, technically nothing is 'rigid'. Riiiight, so what's w/ this 'random holes' example you just gave? That's pretty obvious... Depends on MANY variables...too many to list. As for...

Pill, I do wish you'd enlighten us as how exactly engineering determines where lightening holes go, since your contention is that their use is 'ill advised'. Or address my comments that I shared about the subject...I'm all ears. Some technical information would be helpful to this thread...

This is why I recommend to people if starting w/ a reasonable body, yet not perfect, NOT to spend the $ to fully restore unless they are completely set on it. Update drivetrain and suspension if they wish a newer 'feel', but a body w/ a few flaws can still be tons of fun w/o the paranoia of...
  12. Industry Wide Transmission issues from Automotive News

I just got an email from a friend about this today, I'll repeat the basics of what I told him. 1st and foremost consider the source. I don't consider Consumer Reports an authority on, well, anything, as it always seems my experiences are in conflict w/ what they report. I also always wonder...

    1. Holes can go all over the place in certain areas and not influence structural rigidity. For example, shear loads are carried at the extreme fibers of a cross section (the outermost ends)...there is quite literally a location in any shear plate where there is absolutely 0 stress...the...

As a 2nd generation Tacoma owner, I agree completely. After driving both a CO and a Canyon, they lack the reliable interior 'feel' of the Taco, but the driving dynamics, upscale design and parts used (relatively speaking, of course), and comfort are leaps and bounds better than my truck. I...

I personally enjoyed the pic of the oil pickup tube... Thanks for sharing the story.

Assuming similar chassis setups, gross power output wins races, not hp/L. You can make 200 hp/L, but if you only have a 1.0L, you're gonna lose a whole lotta races. Professional engine builders and economy cars consider power density, neither of which are being discussed here. Honda owner...

Really? It was a comment about what 'hot rodding' is, and skills that are attained practicing the hobby. I think most would agree that doing a head/cam swap does require the use of one's critical thinking skills (an important quality that seems to be dwindling in modern society as a whole) more...
