Safe to assume no 2017 GT500 but why the 3 year platform wait?

You know that the old SVT team did the GT500 and the mustang group did the Boss. Two separate teams. SVT could not do both. I know the SVT team is now ford performance. Maybe the mustang group is working on the mach 1 while FP is working on the 500 for 18

Bingo!

SVT/Ford Performance: Cobra, GT500, GT350

Team Mustang (various internal names): 99 Limited Edition, Bullitt, Mach 1, Bullitt, Boss 302, 50th Limited Edition

You will NEVER see 2 SVT/Ford Performance Mustangs aka Shelby's (if Ford continues with the name plate) at the same time ie no GT500 while the GT350 is out.

So why didn't they publish the report? I hate places that do that. If you are reporting based off of a report then publish the dam thing.

Click-bait.

They did put a link to the source, but it comes from the who-shall-not-be-named site

Maybe a low displacement FPC motor capable of handling varying amounts of boost, fed my two turbo chargers.
CF hood, trunk, cross brace, strut tower, DS, wheels. Weighing in at 3600lbs. Not that light but you have to account for all turbo hardware.

One can only wish!!

I'm wondering if we'll ever see the flat plane crank again, outside of the GT350. Both the recently introduced racers, the GT4 and the FP350S sport 5.2 cross plane crank V8s.

I think the FPC will see out its days in the production GT350s......although whether it makes it for all the remaining S550 model years (18/19/20) remains to be seen.

My guessed Ford don't have a dedicated engineering group for GT500. Got to go down that engineering assembly lines.

Once it was reiterated that the FPC was GT350 only, it was all but guaranteed that the GT350 wouldn't be a limited run.

On one hand its sad that the engine will be only put in these cars from the factory. On the other hand, it shows some serious heart and fire from Ford to choose to do it.

Makes it all the more special.

I would love to see the FPC in a Daytona Coupe or Pantera redo... I'd have to call the bank and tell them to extend my credit come Hell or Highwater.

I'd put a updated pantera...hell even the vintage molds and die version with a FPC...or even a CPC in the garage! haha, In fact, I was just starting to look for a vintage model.

Don't be too sure, the 137 GT350's sold in 2015 were excluded too.

2017.5 maybe... 2018? Yes...
What a roller coaster! Just let us know what's up. Several articles just today saying different dates. I pray we are not put off till 2019! That is to damn long!!!! They are about to come out with the wide body and ADR Hellcats! The ZL1 is out with the z28 close behind! Come on Ford give us what we want and it's not just an automatic GT350!

I'm thinking we will see a GT500 in 2019, early/second quarter at dealerships.
According to TOPNOTCH, (a reliable source on this forum), said there may be a SE Mustang coming to fill the void till then and it will be worth it.
Let's hope so!!

Totally agree. ZL1 is out with great reviews, ford needs to bring a competitor out sooner than later. 2-3 years from now and the competition will be on there way to the next gens.
