my mustang span out of track and scratched by tirewall , so I took it to a local body shop a couple days ago.
I picked up my car from body shop today, and I checked my dashcam later today after came home and found my car was abused.

Should I call the police, or ask them for compensation? Need some advice from you guys

Sorry about the dashcam angle, I forgot to adjust it after the track day.

after:

Since it didnt cause damage, i didn't want to go too far and deleted videos. it ended up with their apology and offered me some extra work.
thanks you guys:cheers:

I would call the manager of the bodyshop and demand a compensation. If he has no interest, call the police and local media

Meh. It's an ahole move for sure, but let's be real. You never drove your car as hard as he was in those videos? Just move on with life I say. No harm was done to your car based on those videos. I would let management know and see if they offer you some sort of compensation and leave it at that.

thanks for response. At least I won't drive like this in tiny road with traffic, and I just think they don't have right to drive customer's vehicle for fun with hard acceleration.

They shouldn't be driving your vehicle in that manner. Period.

I'd have a copy of the video footage on a USB stick, ask to see the manager, give him the video footage and tell him you require compensation or else you will be taking the matter further, including notifying local police. See what they come back to you with.

Why were they even driving it?

Exactly, if they were just repairing the damages on the body, there is no reason to be driving the vehicle because scratches don't affect the car's powertrain. As everyone said, take the video and show it to the manager and if he/she doesn't cooperate, take it to the next level.

I have posted this before.

When leaving your car anywhere, put a note on the dash stating " dash cam in use, mileage noted"

Who would drive the car after that?

Oh, and a question, what damages have you incurred and what compensation do you want?

This was my first though as well. Also unless I missed it, you see no faces, body, or anything in the video so how do you prove it was someone else driving it? I'm not saying your lying but if these gets deep, their defense would exactly be that.

Everyone will say "OH THATS OVERBOARD NO NEED" on the following advice but I disagree. Any situation like this, you should at least consult a lawyer and see what they advise before talking to anyone there.

Why I don't leave my car with anyone.

This is the main reason. My car came by rail car and I have pictures of it when it was taken off the trailer. Dealer had marked 4 miles on the title but when I got into the car and checked the mileage it had 24 miles. So somebody took a factory ordered Mustang on a 20 mile joyride. The only thing I can think of it was the guys at the rail yard. All these cars should come from factory with
built in dash cams and finger print readers for each person that starts the ignition. Have their finger prints recorded and stored (Time & Date stamped)
So when they start the car we know who it was and when they stop it we know
how long they have been driving - add mileage, speed etc to the data file.

I say go to the cops - sue their ass and if that does'nt work call in a specialist to
take care of them. - Dinner Reservation.

Most dash cams, like digital cameras have embedded information in the video, to include, date, time, serial number of the camera etc. So it shouldn't be hard to tie the video to his dash cam. Also, in one video the driver is heard talking to a girl in the shop about taking the car to the DentX shop. So he can confirm that his car was taken there on that day and time.

Some cars get pulled from the factory before shipping for QC purposes.
It should have been noted to your dealer.

If not, I would go down to the docks some stormy night and teach those dockworkers a lesson! Brass knuckles will teach them!:paddle::lol:

That sucks! I'd start with a quiet chat with the manager. I am sure a couple of deep details will make you feel better. If that doesn't work, post up! The local news loves this stuff.

The police aren't going to do anything...they may even sound check your exhaust while you're there.
