Dragster,
I was in a similar situation. Was running Borla S-type and loved the sound. Then I added TX Speed & Performance LTHs and the sound was... lets say LOUD. At an SCCA National Tour AutoX event we were given a sound that we were approaching 100db (limit was 103 but they warn you at...
Howdy Hig,
I've run two Optima events in my S550 and had a blast at both. Interestingly, they were the two you were interested in, PPIR (last weekend) and NOLA back in April. My car has some minor power mods (CAT, LTH, catback & tune) and suspension work, but nothing fancy. If you are halfway...
OKC,
For road course work at my skill level (I would call myself firm intermediate) the suspension setup has been really good. Car moves through the corners well with a nice squat coming out of the corners under power and controllable oversteer when wanted. It's also quite catchable on oops...

Two weekends ago at the Optima Search for the Ultimate Streetcar event at NOLA. Picture is accelerating at the Speed/Stop Challenge portion of the event.
Here's my 2015 just before driving to grid at the 2017 SCCA Championship Tour Autocross at College Station, TX last weekend. Was a fun event. Car finished 2nd and 9th in class.
KZ has it right.
Houston SCCA has some loaner magnet numbers they will let you use while in Novice. Otherwise, get some painters tape in a contrasting color from your car and you can make whatever number and class you need.
Sharp21,
As others have said, just go out and get some experience. Nothing will make you better more than seat time and some in car assistance from other racers / instructors. As for living in Houston, come on out to one of the Houston Region SCCA or BMWCCA events. You'll have a great time at...
Great job Rehab! Smooth hands and lines there. You gave up a lot of track on the exit of Turns 1& 2 so you've got plenty more time you can gain there leading into the right hander at 3. Hope you keep going out and having fun!
Nice driving Strengthrehab. Looks like you were having fun and getting settled in. You had a great line through the double right after the start straight but lost a lot of time on the left hander at the end of the keyhole complex. Try entering a bit later and slower there so you can get on the...
Awesome pics of everyone's cars running year round. Here in Houston, our winter driving / racing looks more like this:
From the first Houston Chapter BMW CCA AutoX on the 15th. Fun times.
Final assembly of the three day task of installing a Blowfish Racing Tow Hook, JLT Brake Cooling Kit, Custom Car Grills mesh grille, and a brake job up front while I was at it. After completion, I gave the beast a wash and took it out for a burger. Good fun all around.
I have not, but I have used the "Performance Driving School" that the folks at Texas World Speedway in College Station put on. They run a great novice program with in car instructors. If you can't find any good information on Driveway Austin, I'd say give them a shot.
I went with the Borla S-Type rather than the FRPP version of the same. Couldn't justify the extra cost on the FRPP and the Borla one sounded great on all the clips I heard. Little over 100 miles on the car today and I love the new sound.
Installed a Borla S-Type Catback, a Steeda Shifter base bushing, some track decals, and swapped my track wheels for the street wheels so I could drive the car to work on Monday. Ya know... just a regular ol' day in the garage. :)
