Most of us agree that if you do a hand calc, the computer shows about 2-3 mpg high or so. If you track it for a few fill ups, you can go into engineering test mode and change the multiplication factor the computer uses and get it extremely close.

While I agree with you, putting a bit of dielectric grease in the connector before you make the final crimp can also help prevent this.

I may be wrong here but IIRC, this happens when the car is flashed for a PP tune on a non PP car. Maybe confirm with them that they have the correct settings applied there?
