I'm frustrated because the walnut shell blasting is the ideal remedy, but I just can't find anyone in VIC who does it. The machines are only $1300 for the larger model.
Hi Mustangers. I've had my ecoboost for 8 years and 120kK's and love it every day, but it has taken to misfiring particularly on startup. I'm told it's carbon build up in the intake ports which is common in DI motors.
I read that the best way to clean up ( and even polish) the ports is to walnut...
I used a table leg bracket. Drilled it out to take two bolts (welded in). I screwed this assembly to the inside of the filler cap after removing the fuel cap innards.
the hardest thing was aligning the holes for the decklid and aluminium disc. I was lucky and got it right first time.

Yes that helps. I know now that I have sheet metal to drill through as well as the deck lid. Thanks
I just need to confirm I can get access to the body behind the deck lid by removing the trunk trim.
The pony emblem has dropped off my 2016 ecoboost. I've bought a replica 65 filler cap to modify to a trunk emblem.
My question are: how thick is the black deck lid? and can I get access to the rear of it by taking off the trim in the trunk?
If it works I'll post pics.
Thanks in advance.
Next week I will have had my car 5 years so I had it detailed for the first time today and it looks new again.
I still get a kick from driving this car and for anybody considering buying one I can solidly recommend it.
Only issues have been 1) steering wheel needed replacing 2) Pony projection...
I'v had my ecoboost for nearly 4 years and driven 75K. I've averaged 9.5litres/100. I always drive in sport (auto) sometimes paddle shifting. I plant the foot regularly.
I love the car and will keep it indefinitely.
I just had to get my ecoboost front pads replaced at 49K.
My mechanic could get GT non Ford pads but not EB yet. The Ford pads were charged to him at $352 a pair which seems outrageous to me.
Costs in the US are US$80 to $140.
What's going on here?
Finally got round to looking at the video I took at Winton Raceway in march.
This is my stock ecoboost and my first time on the track. I had a friend in the passenger seat giving me some pointers. The sound comes in at 2 mins. Unfortunately the camera slipped down during the session so towards...
Update on Cooper RS3A's.
Really liking these tyres. I've done 1500k on them and they have lost the slick surface and gripping very well. No worries in the wet. No balancing problems. I'm hoping to get 40K + from them.
I got the car back today. It's a bigger job than I thought, they told me there were a lot of parts to remove to do the job. So a heads ups to anyone having this done, it's going to take a few days and you want to make sure they put someone good on the job.
It's taking a week to do this repair.
After taking my car in for the timing cover seal repair on Tuesday, they tell me today I won't get it back til next week. When the booking was made weeks ago I requested they have the parts ready so there would be no delays. They failed to do this and this...
Sorry Sam the car is with the dealer and hopefully when I get it back there will be nothing to photograph! If you search the 6G US threads you will find some pics. If you have the problem it's probably best to wait for FORD AU to work out a fix on it so you don't have to wait around like I'm...
My local mechanic first spotted this smear of oil around the front of the block at the 15K service and suggested I get it looked at by Ford.
I read it up on the US forums and apparently it is a common fault. The fix is just to replace the sealant at the cover joint - there is no gasket. There is...
