I think this is a valid point. The true market price difference between the base ZL1 and Base GT500 will probably be $15k-20K. That's not insignificant. Price wise, the base ZL1 competes more with the regular GT350.

It looks like you can easily afford it so I say go ahead and buy it if you want it that badly. The good thing about the GT350's are that they don't depreciate much so you probably won't lose much money if you sell it in a couple of years. As for new vs used, if you can save $7k+ it might be...

Depreciation on the GT350 will more than likely be similar to Depreciation on the 13/14 GT500's.

You might be better off just buying a new one instead of a used one. I've heard and seen some base cars sell in the $27k range. If you could find a deal like that, it would be the way to go in my opinion. If you want the Performance Pack, then I'm sure you'd have a hard time getting one for $27k...
