Torque and HP don't add together, and horsepower is a number that takes torque into account. Torque is completely meaningless if you are analyzing performance. That's why quarter mile calculators never use torque. The torque produced by the engine won't tell you anything about how quick the car is.

I agree with your statements about staying in the power band.
Holy shit really? You also can't add gears and powerband either. My point was that its all those things in combination.

Also by your explanation a car with 200hp/200tq is just as fast as the same car with 200hp/150tq.

I understand all that. So, if a manual only traps 115 than we can all agree that the A10 is what makes all the difference. But on the other hand if a manual traps close to 119 than we will know these cars are definitely underated.
You can believe what you will, it won't make it true.

I heard a rumor that all three people who cared died suddenly out of extreme boredom.

Fast or quick? That 200/200 car makes its power lower in the powerband whereas the 200/150 makes its power higher in the powerband. If the 200/150 car has the gearing to keep the engine in its powerband then yes both cars will be as quick as each other assuming all other aspects are equal(weight, grip, etc). Both cars will generally have the same top speed as well.

Just to add, the 200 vs 150 torque is a peak number but the peak power numbers do not occur at the same part of the powerband as the peak torque. At lower speeds the 200/200 will feel quicker since you won't need to rev the engine as high obviously. However in a WOT drag race you will be accelerating the car in the peak power part of the powerband, thus peak torque does not make the difference(generally speaking). At the RPM where both engines make their peak power number they could be potentially producing the same amount of torque.

(HP= torque x RPM/5252)

Apparently that is a code in obituaries for "died of suicide". I thought it was a nice touch.

if the A10 is the main reason the Mustang has picked up so much 1/4 mile performance why has the F150 seen so little gain from the A10?

be interesting to see what kinda of mph the M6 GT puts up... if it comes close to the gt350's 119 , what will be the reasoning then?

The F150 doesn't have a drag mode that removes torque limiting.

ok so the mustang traps substantially lower when not in drag mode?
Pretty sure drag mode is only on the cars with 401a and i know the LMR car did not have 401a because its a base with pp and they rapped a 119

I think it also comes in 301A, which is required if you want magneride.

Per the order guides the only versions without Drive Modes are 100A and 300A. LMR said their car is a 300A.

I see nothing in the owner manual or in any other Ford info that indicates that Drag mode isn't included in any of the cars with Drive Modes.

It looks like the base cars continue the "sport" setting option using the T/C button. This "sport" setting is apparently equivalent to "track" mode in the Drive Mode cars. Note that this is not the same as "S" in the automatic.

Therefore, if the manual and pr info are correct the "most" the LMR car's automatic had to "improve" shifting was "S" for the 10A and maybe either T/C off or "sport/track" on for T/C and Advance Trac. I'm guessing they used the paddles in "S".
