Beware of idiots
They might be taking deposits, but those are empty allocations at this point. My AG 17 allocation was confirmed by the regional ford rep. At the time, I was waiting for a very long time for my promised allocation to be built without any confirmation it was legit. I reached out to the regional rep and very politely asked for confirmation. Suddenly there was peace of mind.No they do not. Even the regional would not confirm the dates on the chart going around, he just said '18 production would start around October and '17 would be a long production run and that he had no idea on who was getting '18 R allocations at this point (last week of June). I actually liked lightning blue a lot and originally wanted that color on my first 350 but it was no an option for my '16. So I decided to go ahead and pursue the '17 R and got lucky.
There are a couple on here to claim to have deposits on '18 allocations.. hopefully they are aware they have deposits on expected allocations and not actual allocations.
There have been dealers who take orders without allocations or allocations that they perceive they might get. Anybody accepting an allocation and putting money down really should ask for confirmation from the ford rep that it is legit.
I know you have a very good relationship with your dealer and if you are happy with a handshake, you will probably be just fine.
My advice to everyone else, after playing the waiting game for over a year, is to put it all down in writing (agreed upon price, deposit given, and confirmation of the allocation by ford). Things over time get fuzzy and even a MY 17 could still be a way out. MY 18? Things will get even more fuzzy. Get it all in writing.
