Hmmm. Well, I knew it would be something odd. They don't look particularly lethal though.

So, they are afraid they will fly off and kill a pedestrian? But it's A-ok to bring in hordes of immigrants to have their way with the locals?
No I think it interfere with the pop up hood mechanism.
In an event of hitting a pedestrian, the hood pop up so the person would not hit any hard parts right under the hood.

euro pedestrian crash standards dont like protruding objects on the hood, argued they make the injuries more severe. As if getting hit by a guided missile of a vehicle isnt bad enough

Stupidity, whats worse is that us Australian's have been stripped of it when it complies with out safety standards.

I think the overseas cars, have been stripped down, to save money, the Bliss and the Memory seats to name 2 things, which could easy be put on the overseas cars, I mean they could not even bother to move over the handbrake

I suspect that the vents themselves are not an issue with compliance, plenty of euro cars have bonnet vents......the bonnet itself is different to the USA type as it does not have the pony pressing under the hood lining. I believe that as a new bonnet was required for Euro compliance, it was decided to make one type only to suit all models (cost cutting), so the vents were ditched.

I was led to believe that we all got the ecoboost bonnet hence no vents
