The 2015-17 Mustang EcoBoost has a strong 2.3-liter engine with beefy drivetrain and there have been many aftermarket turbo upgrades. However, not all of them improved turbo lag or retained a torque curve that makes the car fun to drive.
The Full-Race Motorsports crew has just released its Mustang EcoBoost EFR twin scroll FReakOBoost Turbo Kit to offer a better solution.
The legendary Full-Race turbo manifold is at the heart of this full bolt-on, top-mounted turbo kit, engineered and optimized to spool the BorgWarner EFR turbo with a twin scroll configuration for stout midrange (15psi by 3000 RPM) and strong top end power, making for 400-500 horsepower using 100% stock fuel system and drivetrain.
The FReakOBoost EFR (internal wastegate) turbo kit comes with a whole set of Full-Race hardware including Full-Race twin scroll EFR turbo manifold, 3-inch downpipe (optional 3-inch dual catback exhaust), intercooler and 2.5-inch charge pipes, 3.5-inch intake and Full-Race hardware kit box.
Geoff Raicer, founder of Full-Race told us that their new 2.3-liter EcoBoost EFR twin scroll turbo kit is the most challenging and rewarding kit the company has done in 13 years.
“I’ve personally spent more resources on this single project than anything else in our company history. I am daily driving our EFR Mustang right now and can’t convey how elated I am with the result…We made a decision to step up and push through our comfort level. Good enough was not acceptable.
We selected Inconel 625 alloy for the ultimate in heat retention and elevated temp strength. Then we worked with Headgames Motorworks to validate our designs with stock cyl heads and fully prepped race heads. After redesigning the manifold runner aero 9 times, we were able to increase exhaust flow ~22% with no losses,” said Geoff.
The new wares will be shown off for the first time in public at the 2016 SEMA show which is just a few weeks away and we can’t wait to check it out in person!
