Track Day with the S550 Mustang

Mustangs have always had a loyal following but with the sixth generation comes with it many first-time owners of not just a Mustang, but any performance oriented vehicle.  As we welcome new owners into the Mustang family, many are discovering just how advanced the S550 Mustang has become, not only compared to its predecessors, but any performance vehicle in its class and price point.

M6G member and new 2015 Mustang GT owner NotBlake recently put his S550 through its paces during SCCA track night at the Atlanta Motorsports Park.  While hampered by the stock non-performance pack Pirelli all-season tires and lack of racing brake pads, his vehicle did benefit from a high performance alignment that managed to take out a full degree of rear camber (from -2.0 degrees to -1.0 degrees) which helped to eliminate understeer during turns.

Although admittedly a novice at the track, NotBlake is not new to performance driving (having done autocross) and from the looks of it drove the 2015 Mustang GT respectably around the track, no doubt helped by the vehicle’s already impressive stock handling and power.
