Last year, the team at Need4Speed Motorsports (N4SM) introduced their new “Project 6GR” wheels for Mustang GT and Shelby GT350/R owners which featured a beautiful, strong and lightweight 7-spoke wheel created from advanced spun-forging technology.
N4SM has now unveiled an all-new “Project 6GR-Five” — their new wheel design for the 2017 season.
The Project 6GR -Five design was born from a collaboration between fellow enthusiasts and N4SM’s wheel designers as the company took the feedback of the Mustang community to create a simple, clean and timeless 5-spoke design that builds upon the original wheels (renamed “Project 6GR-Seven”) by incorporating the same smooth lines that flow through the entire wheel.
The spokes extending to the edge of the barrel provide a “larger” overall diameter appearance and also aids in providing strength and a higher load rating during tests. The larger openings between the five spokes allow for the maximum viability of the braking components equipped on the S550 platform, especially those equipped with Brembos.
All fitment specifications of the new five-spoke wheels remain the same as the initial Project 6GR-Seven design which means that the same deep concave design will be present on both the front and rear wheels. Shelby GT350 owners will also have the R-spec option once more which uses 19×11 (front) and 19×11.5 (rear) with a super deep dual concave front and rear.
Pre-orders are being offered exclusively to the Mustang6G community first with the new wheels expected to be ready for shipment by Spring 2017.
