This new photo now clearly shows the gauges and air vents designs of the 2015 Mustang (this is the ecoboost turbo 4 cylinder model). The gauges retain the general look and feel of the current Mustang, but the center console vents represents a big departure – with its 3 ringed vent look.
Beyond that, the center console looks to be a more production-level form from the previously spied interior, and while the photo cuts off above the flip switches, our hunch is that those will make production.

Ford Motor Company today announced the retirement of J Mays, the Dearborn company’s Group Vice President of Global Design and Chief Creative Officer. While there is no doubt that Mays’s design fingerprints will be all over the 2015 Mustang and beyond, his indelible mark on automotive design premeated throughout not only Ford’s vehicles in the 16 years he has been with the company, but also influenced the entire automotive industry.
In a statement given by Ford Chief Operating Officer, Mark Fields stated,
“The bold and sophisticated design language that J Mays pioneered will
be visible for years to come in Ford vehicles and the auto industry
overall. In addition to his talent as a world-class designer, J has
brought together one of the most talented design teams in the business.
We are grateful for his creativity and leadership and congratulate him
on his retirement from Ford,”
Mays’s large shoes will be filled by Moray Callum who is currently Design Director for Ford’s North American brand passenger cars, and the younger brother of the reputed Ian Callum, Design Director of Jaguar.

A recent debate among Mustang6G members has been whether the 2015 Ford Mustang will continue to receive standard HID headlights across the entire lineup. The first sign that we may see at least one trim revert back to standard halogen headlights was hinted in the first S550 full prototype spy pictures we showed you back in June. A recently leaked survey commissioned by Ford further added to this speculation, which listed halogen projectors as standard equipment in the 2015 base Mustang with a starting price of $23,995. Several informed Mustang6G members have backed up this claim.
Will the 2015 Mustang continue the trend of standard HIDs across the entire lineup established by the 2013-14 Mustang or will it hit the reset button? Tell us what you think.

Has the 2015 Mustang been leaked by the December issue of Car & Driver?
The newly published issue’s cover has an image of a redesigned Mustang that purports to be the 2015 Mustang (S550). They write, “We Leak the 2015 Mustang” with claims of exclusive “images & info Ford doesn’t want you to see.”
Is this a picture of the real 2015 Mustang — perhaps an embargoed image provided to the media in the recent preview given by Ford? Certainly C&D would have us believe so even though many of the elements do not match with previous spy photos and our CAD-based renders.
In fact, we have credible info that discredits the images to be all but a good photoshop rendering. What’s your take?

A recent Morpace survey (full survey inside) on car options has been commissioned by Ford that seeks feedback on an engine lineup that includes:
Inside sources have informed Mustang6G that this survey in fact accurately reveals the 3 engine lineup and near-exact specifications that we will see for the 2015 Mustang. While displacement figures have been intentionally (if very obviously so) obscured – we have our first preview of the specifications for the 3.7L V6, 2.3L I4, and 5.0L V8 engines for 2015 model year.
Other details about the base model include 6-speed manual transmission, independent rear suspension, remote keyless entry, push button start, and possible pricing of $23,995 with standard equipment which would represent a $1,795 increase over the 2014 base model. The next-generation Mustang also looks to gain a host of new technology and options, including memory seats, heated/cooled seats, heads up display (HUD), lane departure warning, and 20″ wheels option.
With the 2015 Mustang set to be revealed before the end of the year, exciting details about Ford’s 50th Anniversary Mustang will continue to be firmed up. Stay tuned!
