All 2018 Mustang GT and EcoBoost Will Come Standard With Line-Lock Feature

Ford has just announced that it will be making the previously V8-exclusive electronic line-lock feature standard across the entire 2018 Mustang lineup. That is to say, all 2018 Mustangs will have this feature regardless of trim, package or choice of transmission.

If you didn’t already know, the line-lock feature automatically locks the front brakes for 15-seconds, allowing you to do big smokey burnouts and more importantly for those who drag race their Mustangs, warm up your rear tires to improve traction at launch.

It’s a feature that is activated through the Track Apps menu, and while that is not changing, Ford is adding a little Easter Egg for 2018 Mustang owners opting for the new 12-inch digital gauge cluster, by adding an animation graphic of a spinning and smoking tire burning rubber.

To kick it off, Ford got none other than Vaughn Gittin Jr. to drive around in a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost and have regular folks give the new EcoBoost line-lock feature a twirl (in a closed track of course).
