If you have a staggered set up I think . 8.5 x 20 front and 10 x 20 rear size wheels

I am looking at a set of used Vossens with new MPSS that came off a 2014 Mustang...

They will technically work just fine... you will be running same rolling diameter front and rear instead of slightly taller rear tire the stock setup runs, making the rear end geared slightly shorter than the stock rolling diameter. But shouldn't be too noticeable.

At 10.5 I would think that you have to go to a 305 .

It works but depends if you're lowered or not as well. The tire size will look small if it isn't lowered. For our 20x9 & 20x10.5 wheels if you are lowered on springs we usually recommend 275/35/20 in the front and a 295/35/20 or 305/35/20 in the rear. We've even had a few customers run a 315/35/20 without any issues.You also have to consider the offset of the wheels.

At 10.5 I would think that you have to go to a 305 .

Most anything between 265 and 315 that you'd consider for a Mustang will be mfr-OK'ed for installation on 10.5" wide wheels (it's also somewhat profile-dependent).

The only "have to" requirements are the individual's own and depend on preferences in ride quality, desired appearance or handling responsiveness. I wouldn't run 305's on anything narrower than 11.5" . . .
