Every time I post an image using
- the dang picture is rotated so it's sideways for folks viewing it...

The original pic from my Host site was not rotated and when I view it on the host site, it's completely normal (right side up)!

WTH?? What is causing the pic flip on here when using img tags???

This is a common occurrence with vBulletin but it is not a bug. VB is showing the image exactly as it is on your phone without the orientation data. See this thread:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...74-how-do-i-disable-images-from-auto-rotating

Some cameras and phones generate images that are sideways or upside down, and contain a data tag with the correct orientation. Unfortunately, some browsers don't look for the tag when displaying the image. Also, if vbulletin has to resize the image or create a thumbnail image, the resulting image will not contain the orientation tag.

To see the exact EXIF data of the image, you can test it here http://regex.info/exif.cgi. Even if you open the image directly in browsers such as Chrome or Firefox, you will see the image with the right orientation, but if you load the image using the html img tag, it will show the EXIF orientation.

Thanks for the reply. It seems the issue only occurs when I use the tag on this Vb forum - I've posted (and belong to) many others where I can post images and it doesn't rotate or change orientation.

Others have recently stated same curious concerns saying they don't know why their pic has rotated; see this thread:

Let me ask this - is there a way a User can tell or see the EXIF data of their pics on their device or computer without having to test via the link you had supplied?

Thanks!!
