All I'm saying is I'm not messing with him. He seems like the type that will drive cross country wearing a diaper to get there faster only to bash your dome in with a pipe upon arrival.

I PUT MY DEPOSIT DOWN AND ORDERED MY SILVER V8 GT ON APRIL 10TH. MY DEALER DID NOT TURN THEIR SPECIAL ORDERS IN TILL 5/22. MY DEALERSHIP IN OXFORD MS FINALLY GAVE ME MY ORDER NUMBER AND TRACKING NUMBER ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND MY ORDER SHOWS TO BE IN ORDER PROCESSING. I CHECK EVERY DAY AND IT'S STILL THE SAME. IF ANYONE HAS SEEN THEIR ORDER MOVE INTO THE PRODUCTION SLOT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I LIVE CLOSE TO MEMPHIS AND IF ONE OF THE BIG DEALERSHIPS GET THEIR CARS IN BEFORE I GET MY SPECIAL ORDER I WILL HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS FOR FORD AND MY OXFORD DEALERSHIP.

The Ford Order Tracking site is still a pilot program and is not always the most up-to-date. Even with the VIN, it may not function to its full potential.

A "special order" is a "Retail Order," as opposed to a dealer stock order. ...

No one to be mad at. The order banks opened 5/22 so your order went in as early as anyone's and will be handled in the order Ford (in their infinite and inscrutable wisdom) chooses to handle them.

I PM'd him and he replied with regular text, so all is well now.

Here's basically what I said (this is info I have gathered from reputable sources, so I hope it's accurate):

A SPECIAL ORDER IS A RETAIL ORDER. BOTH ORDERS WILL BE HERE BEFORE NEXT YEAR.

Thanks, Old 5 Oh, 89Trooper, and Robinson02, for helping me out! You've got it right; retail orders are "special orders." Stock orders are processed prior to retail orders.

Putting down a deposit does not guarantee a specific delivery date. The deposit was with the dealer, not Ford, and the last time I checked Ford produced the vehicles.

This is true, garagelogic. Dealers are independently owned and operated while Ford Motor Company produces the vehicles sold by the dealers.
