Wheel spacers

Hey guys, I originally wanted to put wheel hubs on my 18, My mechanic that works on my car said ,not a good idea, not really good for the suspension, puts extra strain on the suspension, wears out ball joints and bearings quicker so I've been told, So I am curious what about a quarter inch spacer Hub centric of course

Technically he is not wrong, but if you google the real world effects you will see he is exaggerating .
Doubt you will see any wear and tear as he states .
Btw, I did investigate this as well.
