Gah ! I have also scuffed my front left wheel.

It's not dissimilar to the damage in Monty's pics above, but a bigger area. It looks awful - I'm going to touch up with black paint for now, but can anyone recommend a good wheel refurb specialist in the Essex area ?

Thanks !

Hmm, good idea...but not sure I like the look and I'd always be a bit wary of introducing slow leaks to the tyre. Just imo.
Maybe in black...

Rimblades as an alternative don't require removal of tyre and there's some good instructional videos on their website. I think I might try these.

Hi All

Sorry to bring this up again. I'm afraid I've joined the curbed alloy gang on the way home from work tonight. Absolutely furious with myself. Haven't done it in years and then do it within a month or so of getting the Mustang.

Going to use the black marker trick in the short term. Can anyone recommend a good mobile alloy repair company in the Surrey area at all? There's loads on Google but with contrasting reviews, I always think that recommendation is the best way when it comes to something like this.

Thanks in advance.

Black wheels?

I use Halfords Satin Black Scratch & Chip Repair Pen
http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/scratch-repair-paint-restorers/halfords-satin-black-scratch-chip-repair-pen

Assuming I'm going to continue kerbing my black alloys on a regular basis it's not worth getting them fixed properly until I sell the car and once this paint is brushed on over the scuff the damage really isn't that noticeable (from a distance).

6 foot job I believe is the word ;)! It works for that.

In retrospect I would go touch up pen over 'professional' repair. Better to have a tiny area of your wheel not quite factory finish than 20% of it, especially if scuffs are likely to be are gulag occurrence.

Cheers for the ideas guys. Thanks Actual I'll try one of those in the short term.

I'm going to have to get it repainted in the long run as I think it'll drive me mad just knowing it's not right. Just a case of trying to find someone who will do a decent job.

Got some of that alloy wheel filler you get in the tubes. Probably going to give this a go when I get around to it, trying to keep the 'repair area' to an absolute minimum. Never done this before, so will probably make a mess of it!

Regarding the Alloygators, I've looked at these before, but they are a hard plastic which to my mind will scratch the wheel when grit gets underneath and rubs. Anyone actually have any experience of using them?

Some guys on pistonheads are mixed views, love them for saving damage, hate them for scratching inside the wheel with the metal clips. Some have been known to come off as the are not recommended for polished or diamond cut alloys. I will eventually talk to the company that fits them in Inverness or Aberdeen for some details.

If anyone else is feeling bad about curbing their rims, I wanted to post the horrific state of mine after a run in with a country lane, a low curb and temporary loss of steering control

Entirely my fault and absolutely gutted as I haven't done this before in 13 years of driving

Manders Mustang - did you mention you have a recommendation for refurbing alloys in the B'ham area?

It's north of birmingham, a place called 'Gemini Bodyshop' fairly hard to find their details online but here:
Address: Pye ford brook garage, Kings bromley Road, Alrewas DE13 7DD
Phone: 01543 415935

Maybe a bit far out for you, there's also a place that I'd called out before called Wizard on Wheels, chap called Mike turned up for me, top bloke was a few years back though ;)!
