Looking for some guidance/suggestions with rear wheels for a 2016 GT.
I have a set of MT 305/45/17 ET street S/S tires that are waiting for me. I ordered and received a pair of Bullitt wheels, 17x10.5" wide, from American Muscle today. I removed a rear wheel, hung one of the new Bullitt wheels, and as it sits on a jack, it extends a full 3/4 inch past the fender. That is without tire. I would guess with a tire, whhe;/tire combo it will stick out approximately 1.5 inches from the wheel opening. That is a unacceptable as far as looks go.
Wheel specs as follows. 17x10.5, and if I measure from the rear edge of the rim to the hub surface of the wheel, I get ~6.875". Box of wheel says 28mm offset. Guessing I need a wheel towards 8" backspacing?
I realize once the tire is mounted and installed on the vehicle with these wheels, I will loose probably 3/8" as the suspension rolls the wheel back into the wheel well, still leaving me ~1.25" sticking out. Still more than I am comfortable.
Looking for a wheel, 17x10.5 that will be flush with the fender lip with 305/45/17 MT's. Inexpensive, less than $150 preferably, as these are for Fun nights and maybe a weekend event now and then. Factory wheels and tires will go back on after events.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
