Ruby Red is neither tricoat nor D4. D4 is the color code for Rapid Red a.k.a. Lucid Red (same thing, different name), which is indeed tricoat.
Ruby Red wasn't available in 2020 anymore. Yours must be Rapid/Lucid.

Then the touch-up paint that i got must have some faulty name to it

This is what I used to cover up my paint and it matches exactly.
But you're right after further checking , the 2020 color is Ford D4, Lucid Red/Red Carpet Tri-Coat

Yeah, I guess by 'variation' they mean it would be an acceptable approximation for RR, too. But RR is darker. Not by much, mind you, but still, you'd see a clear mismatch if you looked closely.
