I specifically asked the exhaust shop who built the midpipes between the H and Roush axleback I had not to weld anything together. He just stretched the end of the pipe to make the coupling to accept the adjoining piece with a clamp on the bench machine.
Pieces is always better. If some thing gets damages it's easier to replace in sections versus cutting. The OEM exhaust is a perfect example of welded together and a pain in the butt to deal with; even to work on because the whole thing is one piece.
