Vin Number

Hi

Popped into my local dealer to check on the progress of my car and managed to get a vin number and he also said the car is being built on Monday, just wonder how many digits should the vin number be ? and is there anywhere I can use this to follow the progress of my car

Your VIN should be 17 characters tho your dealer may have given you the shortened version cos hey, why make it easy on you?
There are a couple of sites you can go to. You can find your window sticker, available a week or two prior to build which will give you your build date. You can also check ETIS which will update after build with the actual build date and fitted options. To get actual updates on where your car is you would need to ask either your dealer, FordService (on here, while your car is in the US) or by emailing [email protected] - by far the most effective.

What have you ordered? My VIN for a GT fastback starts 1FA6P8C...

The convertible has a difference in (I think) the 4th character due to a different air bag setup. If you google mustang vin decoder there are a couple of sites that explain it. You should now be able to see it on Etis and get your window sticker - or very soon!

The car was ordered in May 2015

I ordered last May, supposedly at the dealers for 23April, so you might be in/on the same boat

Hopefully get an update today, popping into the dealer while I'm out and about.

Let me know if you find anything new out, by the way you ordered yours on the exact same day as mine was order, Ruby Red was my favourite colour but changed my mind and went with Triple Yellow

Wish I had went for one of the mentalist colours, this car should only come in either CO or TY. In the end I bottled it!!
