Hmm...did you forget the most veterans don't have .mil accounts and we are not part of unit anymore; hense the part of being a vet.Actually,no you are by DOD Regulations, as of 2013, prohibited from copying your ID card, CAC portion or not, for proof of identity purposes. There were GMT's on the subject, as well as information posters distributed to "get the word" out. SSO's, Chains-of-Command and individual units were instructed to educate their personnel on the new policy. If a business or vendor wants proof of military membership, use your .mil account to email them or have your ADMIN draft a FOUO memorandum stating you are active duty military, on unit letterhead, signed with "by direction authority" by your division officer or NCOIC.
I read you post and it addresses military service members not vets.No I didn't forget that fact at all. The DOD instructs "Veterans" who have separated or retired from active duty to use a copy their DD Form 214. That is acceptable and legal proof of your Veterans status. And "showing" your VA Id card and making a photo copy of it are two entirely separate occurrences; I never said the DOD prohibits either option you mentioned...now did I friend? "Hence", careful reading of my post would have negated the need for your response.
Veterans aren't on active duty....Veterans are people who have served and are done. The BEST way to prove Military status is a DD214 or a Military I.D. card. Most companies take your word for it...which can be good and bad. Using a valid .mil address is the best way to confirm active duty status as we are definitely not supposed to make photocopies of our CACs.
It's so hard to wait!!!....or just wait a few weeks for "Black Friday/Cyber Monday" sales.
That is incorrect. A Veteran can be on active duty. Given the conflict we've been in the last 14 years, I would say there are plenty of active duty Veterans on this forum.Veterans aren't on active duty....Veterans are people who have served and are done. The BEST way to prove Military status is a DD214 or a Military I.D. card.
I know, I'm just like a kid with a Christmas list all ready to go.It's so hard to wait!!!
