Undercoating

Undercoating used in the US/Canada uses chemicals that are not allowed in EU. The companies at the ports are set up for doing this with EU legal stuff, so it's natural. Don't think this is unique for Mustangs to be honest...

I agree, the problem is that they do not do it the proper way, for example, the Dinitrol Company wants to have my car for three days to do a proper treatment, if we skip the cleaning process at least one full day would be needed to dry the car, remove some plastic covers, treat the car, let it dry, mount the covers again.

I dont know how many Mustangs arrives every week but I guess they put in a maximum of 30 min to treat a car, that makes it 15 car per day per lift. There is no way it could be done properly, and we have the answer from Monticello.

Of course if you go to a undercoating company they will say that you need to do a treatment. I am not an expert but i took a look at the same time. But now i know my car has sufficient undercoating. I hade my car at a undercoating company for three days. Attached a couple of photos. You can compare with your car if you want. Now it looks like my car is gold plated underneath [emoji106]

At what company did you coat your car Monticello?
How much did you pay?
Is it a wax based coating or does it smells a lot like a mix of diesel, paint and gasoline?
Couls you take some more pictures like the floor under the seats and at the rear too?

Nope, it's all black

I did the undercoating at Svensk Bilvård and a ceramic protective paint coating called Drop Off. It's suppose to last five years by a guarantee. Undercoating done with Tectyl, not waterbased it's petrolium based. Wax base was already inside doors and the beams so that is okey.

Mine looked exactly the same. Wouldn´t call it undercoating - more like black paint at random places. Had mine "Dinitrol plus" treated at the local Dinitrol Centre. Result looks the same as the pictures that Monticello posted (a "goldish" colour).

Will not be driving in the winter but still want the car with proper undercoating.
