Today i went to a undercoating company to take a look under my car. It was free of charge so why not. I can only say that the undercoating is very poorly done. Major parts is only painted? The exhaust system is coated with undercoating?! That explains the smell when parking the car.

If you are going to drive your car at winter season, i suggest you to take a look under the car.

Yeah, probably a visit to Dinitrol center to get it properly sealed. Take no chances. Though for me it will have to wait until next winter, I simply don't have the budget for it this year.

When was your car in Bremerhaven under the procedure? Maybe it was in a first batch?

I really don't know. Didn't track the car and didn't know how to do it. But i think it arrived to Europe mid august. Definitely not the first batch. Does all cars to Europe arrive to the same port?

EDIT!!!

Sorry Monticello, now everything is clear, I read more carefull your message, I didn't understand you have already received your car.
So, what do you mean for "bad undercover quality?"

EDIT!!!

Hi Monticello!
Can you please explain me your situation? because it's probably similar to mine and maybe we can discover something about our cars' destiny!
So your car is not still delivered but you saw her? and she has bad undercoating?
I'm not sure I've understood this!

As said in the other thread, I know for sure that more than 600 'stang were in Zeebruge for undercoating recall 2 weeks ago!
If you have some infos about your please share!
When did you ordered?
Mine was built in june, my EDD now is for 10 october.

Some are getting the procedure in Bremerhaven, some in Zeebrugge. I have no idea whether cars going to Scandinavia have another port.

Thank you Monticello, it's not your fault, I'm so tired tonight that I didn't understand!!
Anyway, maybe some cars had a very bad undercoating and returned to the company...like those infamous 600 stangs...

Had a friend that bought a Focus RS with the same problem, an undercoating done in the harbour, everything but the undercarrige was totally covered with sticky smelly tar, totally useless. I will take my car to a Dinitrol Center in my home town so it will be done the right way, let's not hope they will spray the prop shaft and the exhaust system at the harbour.

Wonder why they had to do an undercoating for the EU Mustang in such a hurry. I mean aren't their plenty of people in cold parts of USA and Canada that would need it as well ? or would those also be treated separately ?

Would be a shame if its done in such a rush that many cars will not be coated properly or without enough care.

I don't know why, but i can speculate. Undercoating is done in harbour when cars arrive to Europe. Its alot of cars arriving at the same time and maybe the undecoating company rush trough the work.

Hearing this was being done at the port has worried me. Sounds like an afterthought. Very slap dash of Ford and another thing we have to pay to correct.

Seems like we are buying a kit car.

They surely had problems with the quality of the work, they had a big recall for that and this is why my 'stang is still not delivered after 3 weeks and more in Belgium!!!

Undercoating used in the US/Canada uses chemicals that are not allowed in EU. The companies at the ports are set up for doing this with EU legal stuff, so it's natural. Don't think this is unique for Mustangs to be honest...
