UK built but waiting at gate

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has already been asked.

I ordered my mustang back in September thinking the build date won't be until April at the earliest, however I emailed [email protected] yesterday and was told it had been built on the 11th this month and waiting to be gate released from the plant. just wondering how long the wait is and what are the next stages.

Still a while yet mate. Check out the delivery thread and it should give you an idea. You probably have another 3 months or so to wait.

From 11th, expect 12 weeks until you take delivery.

I've formally wrote out a guidline of the 'next stages' in a high level, as a lot seem to ask it's below:

Week 0 - VIN is produced and sent to you
+1 Week - Window Sticker becomes live (Blend date = build DAY)
+1 Week - Car is built
+2/3days - Car is 'gate released'
Between these stages the car goes to 'Upfitters' which put in new springs and coils etc.
+1/2 weeks - Car arrives in Baltimore
Unknown time (1-4 weeks but can be more) - Car is designated on a ship
1 week later - Car is put on said ship
2 Weeks later - car arrives in Zebrugge
+1/2weeks - Car is undersprayed and sent to southampton
+4hours - Car arrives in southampton
+1day-1week - Car passes security checks
+1 week - Car arrives at dealership
+X days - Car will have passed Pre Delivery Inspection and be in your possession

hope this helps, you should have been gate released probably 15th march (at a guess), you'll probably be moving to Baltimore anytime now! I was build 02/02/16 and my timescale can be seen in the plethora of colours below

His car was built and he's had it confirmed.

I assume you got given a VIN [MENTION=21948]Chris66[/MENTION] . If not you can use this to track the car's changes in the gaps (Such as you can tell when it's built, when it's gate released, when it's arrived/expected to arrive in baltimore (estimates), and when it's on a boat/where that boat is!)

Yes he does, but mine's quicker. Chris, you need to get your VIN from either your dealer or [email protected]. With that you can check ETIS - www.etis.ford.com - which will show your build date from a day or so after build.

The Vista system dealers use (and i'd suspect the helpdesk use too, unless they do further checks) will have a build date on it but it can be an estimation rather than an actuality.

Great thanks for the info. The part I'm confused about is if it was built on the 11/02/2016 why hasn't it been gate released yet. I got the VIN number this morning i've looked on Etis cheers for that, how are you able to track where it moves to?
