Hey guys so felt that I needed to make a thread about this issue as I have had it diagnosed and it has occurred a second time now within a few hundred miles. Below is my experience:

I was leaving work, let the car warm up a little bit then took off. Came to a "Michigan left" and proceeded to go WOT in first gear until about 6k RPMS then shifted into second until about 4k RPMS, then I layed off the throttle as I had met the speed limit. After driving a little bit I noticed that the car was not making much boost, the boost gauge was only registering about 4 psi and the car felt slow.

Took it to the dealer and the code stores was P0234:turbocharger over boost condition. I had just over 400 miles on the car

They told me that it was because I had low miles on the car and that I was driving it close to redline that the car was going into limp mode to protect itself.

Well I put 400 more miles on the car so now I have 800 miles and I attemped the same 1-2 shift.... Same result, the car went into limp mode.... I feel like this is going to be a reoccurring issue and honestly I'm pretty disappointed that this car can't handle a 1-2 shift... It's not like I'm tracking the car...

Has anyone else had the issue? Am I totally wrong for rippin the car a little bit with 400 miles and then at 800 miles? I need some help here guys, I sold my last car which had too many issues and bought a new car to avoid having issues and it seems like all I have is issues....

I had to comment because I lol'd at your car going into "limo mode".

Regardless over boost generally happens if the waste gate is not functioning properly whether it be mechanical or in this case electronically controlled. I don't think low mileage will cause over boost, unless maybe there is an algorithm built into the pcm that detects high boost/ hard driving at low miles? In that case it would be more like "too much boost for a not broken in engine" but not a true fault?

That's what I was told by the dealer is that it has to do with lower miles. one my second time thought which makes me a little uncomfortable.

Lol autocorrect on limo lol oops ha

I think that's the dealer trying to get you to get used to it or forget it's an issue. Keep pressing the issue until it's fixed. I personally have no idea what it could be, so I can't really contribute anymore than that, lol. Good luck!

Thanks man! I worked for the dealer for a couple years and have bought literally 10 cars in the last ten years from them, I'm really hoping that it's not a bunch of B.S. They are telling me.

I do remember that the first Shelby gt500 had a break in fail safe from the factory, it even said in the manual, but it was only 50 miles, worst part is, I want to tune, but if this turns out to be an issue I don't want it to be challenged if I end up tuning ...

Get a written service record (even if nothing was done or they deemed it normal) when you get things checked out by dealer. That way if you get a tune and the problem persists, you can prove it was pre-existent and not caused by your tune.

Just an update guys, have 1100 miles and haven't had the issue spring up again. However I watched a video shot by a company who tunes and mods the EB, and I heard one of them say the car went into overboost condition when they missed a shift. So I believe this is a normal fail safe to keep the engine safe
