It's funny because my insurance was always cheaper saying the car was parked in a street AWAY from home. Than if it was parked on my drive. Can sort of see the logic behind it but it's still weird.
I just don't like how it's all automated. They tick a load of boxes and this is the price you pay

Sorry to hear about the wrap, MM :(

And yeah, insurance does my head in, too, and I'm an old git at 45! I think my S197 cost me a little over £700 in the first year and fell to £550 in the second. Since then, it's ALWAYS been around £450.....that's for a garaged car on a 1500 limited mile policy.

So, insurers don't just hate you, MM. They hate me too :frusty:

Hey I wouldn't mind 700 quid! It's a fork up of a few grand just to have the car wrapped.

Attempting to rob me blind is what's annoying me.

On a positive I still get my dream car it's just my second favourite colour - but still favourite out of all on offer. So can't complain too much!

I don't like the whole insurance thing in general... not the whole each box changes things etc.

They're sending me a specialist insurer over to do an independent quote on the car.

A friend of mine is sending me over the details of his broker for his highly modded porsche 997.2 so will see, some open doors at least

Their logic is thieves can break into your house and steal the car keys to make robbing the car easier, no need to bypass security systems on the car.

A plan rang me back, they can't compete on my cheapest offers with or without the wrap.
They're sending me a specialist insurer over to do an independent quote on the car.

A-Plan do support the Owners Club forum, and always try and do their best for owners.....at least it seems that way as I've been with them for 8 years now and even my daily driver Mustang is insured through them. It also helps that their office is a 5 minute drive from my house, so if they ever get funny.......... :headbonk:

Will do matey. Their waiting on someone coming back to me..Guess it's very different when it's a 21 year old in a high performance car (compared to what most 21 year old would drive) of high value and then wrapping as well.

Should get a call back between 12 and 1 as that's when I've asked them too. Their sutton office isn't too far from me so hopefully they can do something good for me as a lot seem to rave about them. A plan and Adrian Flux are the only two comps to ask about if I'm a ownership member forum member etc.

6 grand. They're the most expensive by a long shot. Called yesterday. :(.

What's more annoying is the woman I spoke to was really nice and the customer service was great. And I appreciate them things. Equally 6 grand is a slap in the face haha!

Phone up insurance companies that specialise in modifications e.g. Adrian Flux, Sky insurance, Greenlight etc and see what they say.

I phoned up my insurance company yesterday and told them I was planning on changing part of my exhaust (resonator) and told them it's a more durable part (resonators have failed and needed to be replaced on this car and x-pipes have nothing to fail), cheaper (cheaper to replace x pipe than the OEM resonator) and when asked if it's performance enhancing, I said there was nothing on the product page (copied below) saying/claiming this part increases bhp and/or torque because unlike full exhaust systems they claim actual figures i.e. 10bhp increase etc. If this part increases power then there would be figures stated.

The guy was really helpful and said that a note has been made on my insurance and no charge for the part to be added.

Greenlight only seem to insure cars up to £20,000 which sucks as they give a discount if you are a member of the RMS forum.

Adrian flux quoted me 6 grand. Apparently a full wrap makes the car highly susceptible to theft and more desirable to thieves or "jealous trouble makers".

Kind of gone off the full wrap idea now. Might just do small parts.

Insurance as standard is 650-800ish. Insurance with wrap 1400-6kish

I would still try the same companies suggested mate and tell them about the other little items you plan to wrap and not the whole car wrap idea, you may be surprised with what they come back with this time around. I was surprised that I was told no extra charges for changing the part I want to do.

A plan called - can insure but not competitively. They said after I have named driver experience they'd be more than happy to. That's with and without wrap.
Adrian flux was 3409 with minor wraps
Sky insurance website keeps crashing and being rubbish.

Will keep you all updated in the wonderful dramas of me lol
