The hard way to remove a wheel

Couldn't get any of my sockets to fit the lugs (except the locking lugs). Cranking down at 150 ft-lbs the outer "shell" on the OEM lug nuts crinkles up like aluminum foil. Took me about 15 minutes each wheel with a Dremel and a needle-nose pliers to get the shells off, that is some thin metal.

I ordered the Gorilla lugs from CJs but for now I'm using the lugs without the shell.. at least they go on and come off easily.

Yup... been there before. I believe the nut underneath the shell is an 18mm, so make sure you have that socket size (not entirely uncommon for some sets to skip that size).

But yea, the stock lugs are garbage. I bought a set of gorillas for whenever I need to put my stock wheels back on. Way better quality out of those.
