Warning: This is a long post but worth the read 
So I’ve managed to come across a situation with the build on my car that was so exciting for me, personally, that I felt as tho it was deserving of a debut of sorts. This little story is for anyone who’s ever had a friend who sh!t talks your car or just makes annoying comments over the course of several years because your car isn’t as impressive or as quick as his. I can respect that not all of you guys are roll racing guys but the history of this entire thing is the most entertaining part.
Been good friends w a guy for several years who’s managed to always have a faster car than mine and now my life has been fortunate enough to put me in a position to do something about it, finally. I’ve had my 16 GT since Nov and my friend being discussed here has a little 135i with a decent amount of stuff done to it that’s its really quite impressive. He puts down around 450/450 or so. We ran each other a few months ago when I was NA and had some decent bolt-ons and he pulled a few cars on me on the hwy and since that time (and all the years before this w various cars over the years) I’ve heard the constant “Mustangs are sh!t, they’re slow, id never own one” etc etc we all know the person I’m referring to.
Rewind to a few months ago when I decided to go forced induction and a good friend on the forum here [MENTION=16778]gqneon[/MENTION] convinced me to go with a Whipple. This guy was nice enough to knock my install out of the park (see my signature for all the mods) and get me taken care of in a way I wouldn’t trust even a reputable shop to do so. Straight killed the install from top to bottom. I shared this story about my friend along the way during the install. So we were in cahoots on getting revenge on my buddy. Car gets a new clutch setup, Whipple install, OPG & CS tuning by Alex at Lund, put on the dyno and several logs after to make sure all is good. Get some seat time and become a little more confident and comfortable w the car for a couple weeks and during all this time I haven’t said a word to my friend about any of the mods.
During these months he’s made plenty of comments and I’ve just rolled along w it and made jokes about my car just to build him up and keep him unsuspecting. I have kept my car looking as stock as possible so to the avg person they’d have no clue it was more than just a PP Mustang. I have replica PP 20X10 rears w drag radials now and even have the front license plate on the car. It looks stock. Which was the appearance I want in general for the car.
Fast forward to last night. We met at a meet about 30 min from where we’re from. He got there first and parked a ways away from each other. Buddy of his rode w him who is also a Mustang hater. We walked around and looked at some cars. Walks by mine and noticed the rear tires and that’s it. I made sure to scurry by and keep them from noticing the front. (heat exchanger) He made a couple light hearted jokes about the car being slow etc etc. Everyone starts to leave cuz we showed up pretty late. We leave that first meet and go to a different spot my buddy recommended. Get there and there’s actually more mustangs than anything else. (No one was boosted but had some tasteful NA setups) We take a few min to decide if we wanna stay and ultimately decide to stick around to see if anything happens stay for a few min. Get out of our cars and my buddy tells me they’re “more my people than his.” So I say, ”Ok cool I’m gonna go introduce myself.” So I do. Bunch of strangers we’ve never met. I went over and introduced myself by myself while him and his buddy stayed at his car. There’s about 10 guys in this group. Walked up to the guys and introduced myself and got all their names. Super cool guys. So then I explained the entire thing to them about my buddy being a good friend of mine and him not knowing anything is done to my car since we last ran months ago. Give them the whole history of his shit talking. Made sure I told them I wanted to get a run in on him. They LOVED the idea and played along and didn’t ask about mods or anything once he and his buddy walked over to us. We end up leaving so some guys could run on the hwy. My buddy still doesn’t know anything at this point. I’m in the back of this pack of about 10-12 cars. My buddy is up in the middle of the pack and there’s another Magnetic Metallic Mustang like mine in this group. Few runs happen then my buddy in the 135i pulls up next to a 6th gen Camaro on a 3 lane wide area. He’s on the far right, Camaro in the middle. I’m now behind them and I see an excellent opportunity so I sneak over to the left lane and he doesn’t really notice it’s me because he hasn’t seen my since we left and he suspected it was just the other Mustang and not me. If he even noticed at all because he was focused on the Camaro next to him.... until we take off lol. My buddy’s passenger was conveniently filming the Camaro...until he sees me. I’m in the far left lane so I don’t hear the count off or honks so both cars take the hit. The following video is what transpired.....
