Mustang S550 GT, Ingot Silver on order (May 2017)
Even though my car is a long way til delivery i am looking at pricing and at what modifications I want to do. One thing every says is that the handling & stance/look can be vastly improved with springs etc. So I am pondering this:

http://j-w-racing.co.uk/product.php/9704/4138/2015_2016_mustang_street_handling_pack

What are your thoughts? Never modded a car so im a complete novice with no real clue about what would be a good change for what i will be using the car for...a daily driver with a fair few miles done every year.

Im aslo looking at tower braces, clutch springs, catch cans, exhaust, coolant tank and spoiler.

Is this a step in the right direction or completely wrong...

So far as suspension is concerned I would get the car and see how you like it. There will be more options for suspension mods available by the time you get it anyway. One set up that looks good is the Pedders from GT101 which offers a lot of adjustability so if you do something you don't like it's reversible.

As for all the other stuff - knock yourself out! Keeps you sane during the wait.

fair point :)

It does seem that a simple lower is need to make the car look better overall, but I dont know if you can do this on stock springs or you need to change them etc.

You need to change them. The benefit of an adjustable setup is that it's, er, adjustable :)

Hi MikeyG Steeda made our name through suspension which is proved on the track, strip and the street.

A few simple changes can give you really noticeable improvements, which is why we offer a huge selection of parts, whereas most non Ford experts will just do the basics before moving onto the next vehicle.

I would say you can start off with our IRS upgrade pack and a set of our springs and then if you want to tighten up things more you can add to address the issues you want to deal with.

I always recommend changes based on what you want to do with the car and what you want to use the car for, so a stepped upgrade path allows you to feel the difference as they build and tune into what you think needs 'tweaking'. It also would help determine what might be the best set of springs to start with. Send me a PM and we can discuss some options etc

Cheers
Robbie

This can also be a disadvantage:)

It very easy to get carried away, and buy stuff that is way over spec for your requirements..

I well remember getting adjustable shocks for one of my TVR's. The following scenario became a pain in the ass, and I eventually went back to standard shocks...

Going on a road trip, I'll just tweak the shocks because I'm carrying luggage.
Oh it's a bit on the firm side, I'll just give them another tweak to get them a bit softer, damn, it's sitting a bit low for all those speed bumps, better wind the springs up to gain some ride height, oh shit now it's to firm again etc etc etc::doh:

I spent more time mucking about with suspension than I did driving the damn thing.... I got fed up of lying on my back trying to get the perfect set up... Then I realised the perfect set up doesn't exist......suspension will always be a compromise...

If you're a really fast driver, or do track days, adjustable suspension can make a massive difference...

If your mr average, and mostly use the car for touring and day to day duties, get a nice set of springs, and be done with it..:thumbsup:

All IMO of course.....other views may differ:D

Also just as a note and why dealing with a Mustang specialist like Steeda is a great idea...

The pack in the initial link is PERFECT for you and FREE! Because your car already has it....

Thats just a "Performance Pack" upgrade for US customers with a basic car. All the UK and EU cars already have Performance Pack setups......

I'll be expecting a commission for the £1000+ I just saved you haha! :eyebulge::doh::headbang:

lol, I have no idea about this stuff! I think Enoch seems to have a good option of just a set of decent springs and lowered slightly to give It a good stance and decent ride for every day stuff.

The mustang is a great GT, and the suspension is ok from the factory but after a while you notice how bouncy and soft the ride is.Its not easy to make a decision but I can only confirm how good the pedders shocks and coils are after having them fitted today. The ride is transformed, and you have confidence going into a turn without body roll. They are not harsh, you feel the bumps but it's controlled. Also I was conservative on the lowering, and with the lock out kit and front chassis brace it's a great combination.Thankyou to Dave and Lee at GT101

All true. I was thinking more of the adjustable ride height though.

Eibach or steeda Spring kit with 25mm spacers front and 23mm spacers rear and you have a car that looks so so good you will weep every time you look at it, I questioned lowering and spacer zillions of times and was so split on the decision, but now it would be a must do IMMEDIATELY after collection. The ride is better imo so no downside. It's not hugely expensive either. GT101 did mine, couldn't be happier with there service. personally i have no need or want to do anything else..... Only other mod I did was roush axle back....again worth every penny. Enjoy you stang

It can be useful....but remember every time you alter the ride height, you also alter the camber..:)
For a road car, my view is, get the look you're after with a sensible drop, get your alignments done, then leave it alone:D
