Less then a half mile on tires, was 56 degrees out with a bone chilling north wind, came around corner in second gear at 18 or so MPH, gave a little gas and that was it folks. Only went 14 inches off the road but in the worst spot possible.

Summer only tires need recalled as under 40 my rear end, under 60 or 70 degrees sounds better.

A whole 322 miles on her, now she sits for weeks.

Traction control full on and useless.

The side airbags suck when popped, trapped my left elbow in between them and knocked me the f out! Want to know how they made the inside feel bigger? we are now closer to the doors. Lots more room in my 14 on the door side.

Pics up next, :paddle::mad:

Whoa man sorry to hear, seems like more and more threads popping up with accidents but that was bound to happen in time.

Sucks but glad you walked away.

I'd stop short of saying the tires need recalled but again glad you are OK.

I hear you on the tires, but the more I see and hear about these summer only tires under 60 we have to really be careful.

I want drive mine under 70 degrees anymore with the stock tires. But yeah if I save one person from doing the same then its worth posting.

and I will say it was the perfect storm,

Dip in road, gave a little throttle in second, started sliding, hit mud covering road, road use to be 2 foot wider { has since fell off into ditch}, curb poured past the road. Cold weather and less the 1/2 mile to warm tires.

Bummer man.

I couldn't get all seasons on my car fast enough. I remember what my V6 felt like with summer tires in the winter. No way in hell I was adding gobs of HP to the same equation.

With so little mileage on the tires, that's more a fact that the release agent is still on the surface than the tire compound itself. The release agent is very slippery stuff, esp. in cold weather.

Not that the tires would have great grip once broke in either, but with the release agent, it's very dangerous.

Really sucks.

I drove my Pirellis in 30degree days, and it wasn't as horrible as I was expecting, but I had gotten them broke in a bit before the cold really sunk in. I'd still not recommend driving them in the cold though. Definitely not worth it after seeing far too many people having accidents recently. I have Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2s now, and it's night and day difference.

Pirelli has warnings. When summer tires get cold (typically below 45F) they go from soft to firm and eventually to hard. That's why it says summer only.

a warning that is too low, needs raised to 60.

And yes ford has a warning that says don't drive under 40 degrees.

I almost put mine into a wall Saturday morning. It was about 21 degrees outside and I was just taking a turn as normal at about 35 mph and the ass just came around.
