Hey guys, sorry for the stupid question but as I was checking all the fluids today, it dawned on me. Does it matter how you insert the dipstick back into the motor? I mean, I know it'll only slide down with the flat side of the dipstick facing the fender. But my question is, should the crosshatch measurement part face the engine or face the fenders? Does it matter?

Also, initially my dipstick was real tight. I had to really pull hard to lift it up but now it's normal. It comes out by easily lifting it. Is this normal?

Just make sure you get it seated all the way back in when re-checking or it may indicate it has less oil than there actually is.
